• Procurement of construction material – identifies and locates the relevant materials required.
• The Purchasing Manager should also be able to forecast levels of demand for specific materials and set out to meet these levels.
• Negotiate the best possible terms and conditions with suppliers; such terms may include payment terms, delivery conditions etc.
• Vendor control – liaise with the suppliers to check stock availability and ensure the quality of goods delivered.
• Keep an inventory of goods that have been ordered/delivered
• Coordinate activities with Lead Buyer in order to ensure alignment of objectives and to increase efficiency.
• Working knowledge of logistics and customs processing is an advantage
• Proficiency in FIDIC Rules, Standards, able to read and understand construction drawings.
